What is Equine Assisted Coaching? Well, for centuries horses have been used for work and recreation, shows and competitions, but in the past two decades, professionals in other fields have recognized how effective horses can be as personal helpers and healers. Physical therapists work with disabled children, giving them opportunities to ride with incredible physical and emotional results. Psychologists hold therapy sessions with their patients and horses. They've discovered that the interaction has positive effects on mental health. And others, like life coaches, work with horses in personal coaching, giving them opportunities to learn more about themselves as they participate in equine-related activities. So this beautiful animal has earned a whole new and valuable place in our society as helper and healer!
Equine Assisted Coaching or Equine Guided Education (EGE) is an emerging field in which horses partner with coaches to guide personal and professional growth and development. Educators introduce their clients to a variety of activities with horses, mostly on the ground, that will encourage people to recognize patterns and behaviors in their own lives and gain insights into how to most effectively change and grow. This process is a type of Experiential Learning. Clients are able to discover their own answers and work with the coach to create strategies for their life that makes sense to them. Coaching addresses a variety of issues, including career, creativity, family life and more.
Through a series of specially designed activities, participants deepen awareness of personal issues, core feelings and areas of bodily tension that inhibit their ability to reach their true potential. A tremendous boost in self esteem and confidence comes from learning how to establish boundaries and direct a thousand pound creature through mental focus, creative visualization and clarity of intent. These skills have far ranging applications linked to increased success in personal relationships, career and parenting.
Connect with your authentic self through the influence of the horse.
An Equine Guided Educator is not a therapist. The client/horse sessions are designed as educational opportunities.
